Preparation and Standardization of 1N Ethanolic KOH:
Preparation of 1N Ethanolic KOH:
- Dissolve 68gm of potassium hydroxide in 20ml of water.
- Add aldehyde free ethanol to produce 1000ml.
- Allow the solution to stand in tightly stoppered bottle for 24hrs.
- Quickly decant the clear supernatant liquid into a suitable, tightly container.
For lower strengths preparation follow below table:

Standardization of 1N Ethanolic KOH:
- Accurately measure about 25ml of 1N Hydrochloric Acid VS.
- Dilute with 50ml of water.
- Add 2ml of phenolphthalein solution.
- Titrate with 1N Ethanolic KOH.
- The permanent pink color is produced.
